Well, generally in 0.0 as with anything any ship can be a spy for an enemy fleet. For this reason they're taken out as and when they are come across. I cannie fault the FC's of the fleets for ordering this as really, everyone was killing frigs and shuttles that weren't blue, green or purple. Then again, there's also the odds of these frigs and shuttles being enemies returning to home base or perhaps looters.
It's sad that camera shuttles were taken out, but I can see the reasoning behind it.
Also, I can sympoathise with those people who didn't want to PvP against a prepared crew, but as is so often said, 0.0 is lawless space. We had our contracted people to kill and had our objectives to follow. We do this without hesitation from the FC's orders. Soon as the attackers warped in, the people attacking the Titan could have warped off and refused to fight as is their right in the game. However, EVE revolves around non-consentual PvP. As mercs, this is a BIG part of our life and gameplay.
Often enough Mercs, indeed, those pilots in the MC are accused of being griefers because we are paid to declare war on someone and kill their players. Are we out to ruin people's fun? nope, we're there to do a temporary job.
The whole idea of the standing sets is actually being disucssed in this thread starting at, i think, Riddari's post. Suffice to say that all players within the corporations involved will accept whatever the Devs decide to do. Afew ideas put forward were -3 to -10 Gal Faction and -3 to -10 specific corporate factions (and thus the reduced Gal faction as well). Might be best discussing them in that thread though.
As you say, i think this EVENT has more in it and somwhere else to run. It is a major happening. A pirate faction with a TITAN? This might run for a biti and have some empire side things for people to do. One way to look at it though is despite it being set in the syndicate, corps based in Curse travelled up to take part. As with any EVENT, it requires a willingness to take part. Hopefully any remainder parts will include more people.
I can answer your question about us being so well set-up though. The Five forces came equipped to PvP against those people atacking the Titan from the minute that they saw the news and the names of the Aurora staff. The MC/RIP forces were also equipped PvP but this was as we were going to attack IMP/G at that time anyways, before any news about the Titan broke. No conspiricy, sorry.
I cannie say anything about the "teleporting ships", but EVENT staff do have commands that are not open to players as people who've taken part in EVENT's will know. The Vindicators were shooting people at 150+km, not 250km though to my knoweldge. Megas with 425 II's are good, but not that good unless they are getting seriously boosted by support ships. Despite Thol and Jimmysav RPing with the Serps in local and private convo once they agreed to allow us to escort them , we STILL lost ships to them firing on us, myself included. They liked to change teir minds. Personally I'm guessing they had differnt people taking over characters every now and again.
Quote: But the most I question CCP's attitude towards this whole issue. I officially posted a complaint about this that game mechanics were violated and it ruined the event.
What exactly are you complaining about them doing? If you think thinbgs went OTT, email keiron or the Aurora staff and have it investigated if you think they broke their rules. Afaik, from a long ago post in this forum, that Aurora leads can use heal and movement mods when not under view from players to help continue fast paced fun. There's no point them waiting 5 mins to regen armour and cap before fighting again when they can and are allowed to use commands to heal and fillcap to further the EVENT.
Ah well.
Oh and btw, glad you liked the story, took an age to write.
